The world's largest e-commerce platform, Alibaba, has launched an IP Joint-Force System to target counterfeit products.

The new system is a two-way effort with both pro-active quarantine / take down by Alibaba and personalised reporting for member brands. Each brand will have an account manager to improve communication with Alibaba.

The new system should give consumers some comfort that they are buying genuine goods.

And in the UK, the Court of Appeal confirmed on Wednesday that ISPs can be forced to block access to websites selling goods that infringe registered trade marks (ie counterfeit goods) and to bear the costs of that blocking. An in-depth article on the case is on the way.
