The Outer Space High Altitude Activities Bill, which is currently being consulted on, aims to, among other things, facilitate the development and operation of a safe and secure space industry and manage any liability of New Zealand arising from its involvement in the space industry. The Bill also implements some of New Zealand's international obligations in relation to space activities and space technology, including the Technology Safeguards Agreement between New Zealand and USA that was signed last week. It is a very exciting development for New Zealand and especially for our tech industry. As Rocket Lab says, space is now open for business!
Aotearoa has officially entered the Space Age, with the Government announcing a new agency and regulatory framework "to enable safe, secure and responsible space launches from New Zealand".
